Child height predictor
Estimate adult height from parents using the classic mid-parental height formula.
| Chance | Adult height range | Meaning |
|---|
This is a rough genetic estimate, not a medical prediction. Nutrition, health, puberty timing and measurement error can change the outcome.
How it works
The predictor uses the mid-parental height method. For boys it averages both parents plus 13 cm; for girls it averages both parents minus 13 cm.
Example
If the predicted adult height is 178 cm, the table shows a broad range around that number because genetics, puberty timing, health, and nutrition can all move the final result.
Limitations
This is a rough family-height estimate, not a medical prediction. Pediatric growth charts and a clinician are better for individual health questions.
FAQ
How accurate is the child height predictor?
It gives a broad estimate. Many children finish several centimeters above or below the midpoint prediction.
Does the formula include puberty timing?
No. Puberty timing, health, nutrition, and measurement error are not directly included.
