Height tool
Height percentile calculator
Estimate height percentile, standard deviations from average, and z-score.
How it works
This tool uses a normal distribution model. It subtracts the average height from the entered height, divides by the standard deviation, and converts the resulting z-score into a percentile.
Example
A 36th percentile result means the height is taller than about 36% of people in the selected reference group and shorter than about 64%.
Limitations
Height is close to normally distributed in many adult populations, but not perfectly. The result depends heavily on the average and SD values you choose.
FAQ
What does height percentile mean?
A height percentile tells you approximately what share of a reference group is shorter than that height.
What is a z-score?
A z-score shows how many standard deviations a height is above or below the selected average.
