Height tool

Male to female height equivalent

Compare a height against typical male and female adult height distributions.

Uses adult reference values of 175 cm male average, 162 cm female average, and 7 cm SD for both groups.

How it works

The calculator compares a height to a reference average and standard deviation, then applies the same z-score to the other adult group. In plain English, it asks: what height would feel equally uncommon in the other group?

Example

If a man is well above the adult male average, the equivalent female height will be the height that is similarly above the adult female average.

Limitations

The result is a statistical equivalent, not a biological rule. Real populations vary by country, age cohort, nutrition, and source data.

FAQ

Is this the same as converting male height to female height?

No. It compares position within two height distributions, so it is closer to a percentile-style comparison.

Can this be used for every country?

It uses broad adult reference values. Country-specific averages can shift the result.
